I started this blog to inspire people to live a better life. I enjoy writing about inspirational quotes, fitness tips, healthy recipes, traveling ideas, and recommendations on organic products. The mission is to get out there, do something, and try new things!

I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. My father is from Jalisco, Mexico and my mother is from Ponce, Puerto Rico. They both immigrated to the United States around the age of 18, and met in Illinois. Twenty-five years later, and here I am a Latina college graduate. My background, and all of the struggles my family went through, have inspired me to be who I am today. It also inspires me to be the woman I am becoming.

At this point, you may be asking why the name of this blog is “Beautyful Rebel”? And isn’t “Beautyful” spelled wrong? Well, the idea came many years ago when looking up the meaning of my name. I could not find a set answer, but I did find that Mary originates from Maria… which means rebel and Bel comes from Belle which means beautiful. The more common way to spell my name is “Maribel” with an “I”, but my mom wanted my name to be a bit different, and spelled it with a “Y” instead. Which is why I chose the name Beautyful Rebel with a “Y”. To me a Beautyful Rebel means someone who is ready to take matters into their own hands, and will not let anybody or society define them, and instead write her own story and define herself.
