How to stay Positive

10 Tips for Staying Positive in Negative Situations

I am not a guru on positivity, but I do practice making “positivity” a key factor in my everyday life. Every day the world seems to get crazier. You turn on the news, and you hear such horrible stories. You look around, and maybe your environment does not help you think positively. But one thing to always remember is that in the mist of all the craziness, there are an even greater amount of people doing kind acts.

Think to yourself how many days have you actually had a “terrible tragedy” happen to you? To some it might be many days depending on your situation, but to others we live today with minor problems. Take time to look at your life, and see if the good days actually outweigh the bad days. Every time and every day you do something good you are already making your environment and the world better.

Do not forget all the good that goes on. To all the people doing negative actions, karma will always be there.

Here are 10 tips I use to stay positive. I hope this can inspire you to be a little bit more positive every day.

1. Smile

It may seem dumb but smiling can help boost how you are feeling!

2. Remind yourself that things will always get better.

There were a few points in my life where I wanted to give up but I didn’t. Now I am at a better point in my life. I am glad I stuck it out.

3. Breathe in, Breathe out

Take deep breathes when you are feeling frustrated or about to burst. It is always good to calm down, and think twice about what you are about to say or do. You might end up hurting someone else or even yourself.

4. Take a meditation or yoga class

You can learn a thing or two about being clam and being in the moment. Check on YouTube for mediation/yoga videos, check if your local library offers free classes, and sometimes Oprah & Deepak have 21-day mediation challenges for free (https://chopracentermeditation.com/).

5. The thoughts you think about today can affect your future.

I am a strong believer that your thoughts create the life around you. That’s why I like to think positive thoughts to continue to attract positive situations in my life!

6.  Do random acts of kindness

I know this sounds like kindergarten, but helping others can up lift your day! Imagine helping others and all the smiling faces you will see! Just thinking about that makes me feel better! It can be small things such as helping someone at your job, opening a door, giving to a homeless person, or paying for someone’s coffee at Starbucks!

7.  Volunteer at soup kitchens, animal shelters etc.

Volunteer in something that you will enjoy, and at the same time you will be making the world better!

8. Be grateful

With all the negative situations going on remember to be grateful for where you are in life. If you were better than you were a year ago, or even a day ago that is something to be grateful about!

9. Be thankful

Count your blessings! Be thankful of small things such as being able to eat, walk, and pay your bills (even if you are late sometimes J). Thank the oxygen that you can breathe! Thank the universe that you are still alive!

10. Embrace the struggle

Sometimes you are faced with tough challenges or road blocks but that is okay. Remind yourself that sometimes it is not a road block, it is just life rerouting you into a better direction.

Tulum Xtreme Excursion

I traveled to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico in 2014 and it was one of the best vacations I have had.

There are many things to do in Playa Del Carmen. I plan to go again and do all the other activities I did not do.

One of the tours I went on (which I bought before arriving on playdelcarmen.com) was Tulum Xtreme.  Tulum Xtreme was one of the best days of my life!

We started off the day repelling (which I have never done!). Honestly, I was so scared when they showed us how high we would be repelling and my boyfriend was freaking out. In my head I kept repeating to myself, “why did I sign up for this”! Once I was at the top, I was deciding to walk back down, but then I told myself I needed to at least try this once. How could I back out after all this! So I did it! It was so much fun and my body was full of adrenaline! I would not mind doing it again! The hardest part was letting go in the beginning, after that it was easy. Also, the group we were with were fantastic! We cheered each other on!

After that rush we went zip lining! We did three in a row and each one got higher! I now love zip lining! I felt like I was flying! I could see the whole jungle! It was my boyfriend’s first time (he was screaming the whole time!).

After that, we headed to the magical and beautiful cenote! A cenote is a sinkhole resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes underground water. Cenotes were considered sacred places and sometimes even performed Mayan sacrifice offerings. These waters are fresh and no fish are in the water.

It was truly amazing and refreshing to be able to swim in the cenote. Through my goggles I could see the beauty of the rocks, and deeper caves under. Truly, a once in a lifetime experience.
Then it was lunch. The food was a wonderful buffet style meal. They had basically everything; chicken, guacamole, mashed potatoes, tortillas, salad, corn, etc.

After lunch they drove us to Tulum. We went on a tour to view the ancient Mayan Ruins of Tulum. The place was beautiful. There were palm trees everywhere, shining sun, and even a beach. It is the only ruin near water. We walked down some stairs to the best beach I have been too! The waves were beautiful. There were people riding the waves because of how strong and consistent they would come. Truly an amazing place! I highly recommend taking this excursion if you are planning on visiting this part of Mexico!

What you give is what you get.

I read an article from The Muse called, “How Successful People Do More in 24 Hours Than the Rest of Us Do in a Week”. This article resonated with me. Many of the things listed in the article is what I want to become. I want to be happy, become wealthy, blog, travel, have a successful career, and get fit. Since finding the article I have read it at least once every week. Sometimes whether you think you know what you are doing, I think you should go back, and practice the idea or action over and over, until it becomes a habit. I would not be where I am today, without reminding myself why I work hard every day and what my goals are.

When you look at celebrities or successful people they have a billion projects they are working on. They are not only busy taking care of kids, family, paying bills, and maintaining their houses, but they are also busy making money. They are investing or thinking of new ideas. We all have 24 hours to give it our all and we can do it all! We need to stop saying we are busy, because if you look back at all the “busy things” you had to do, how many of those are actually pushing you to the next level? I have seen firsthand people that say “they are busy”, and when I go to their house they are lounging around, the house is a mess, and their kids are not even home. What exactly was taking up their time? A nap? A television show?

It is time to let go of what distracts you and give in to your full potential! If you want something, go get it! Do not make excuses (which we all do at some point).

The reason the thing that you want most in your life is not here yet, is because you have not let go of all the fears and worries to move on to the next step!

It is time to build something instead of pushing the tools you have off to the side.

I challenge you to take a small step every day and do a little more every day after that. Just keep building, and soon enough your goal will be reached. No matter what that goal is just work harder every day. It could be being a better father/mother, graduating from college, starting a new business, or being Employee of the Month; just go for it!

Feel free to leave comments about your goals and what small steps you are taking to reach that goal. I would love to hear your stories!

Kale is my new best friend

This past weekend I went into my local Mariano’s to buy avocados. As usual, I entered the store and awaited food samples. I happen to come across the smoothie station, where they had samples of their Super Fruit Kale Smoothie. It was AMAZING! The smoothie contains kale, grapes, apple, pear, pineapple, orange juice, young coconut water, and cayenne pepper. After drinking it I felt so fresh! According to their sign, Super Fruit Kale Smoothie helps cleanse toxins and replenish electrolytes!

There are different ways of making a kale smoothie to your liking. For example, I made my own homemade kale smoothie a few weeks ago. I put half an avocado, 2 medium sized pieces of pineapple, 3 bananas, kale, spinach, organic protein (Raw Protein), a tablespoon of chia seeds, honey (Mostly Mesquite Honey), and water. It came out very delicious. It has a very smooth and sweet flavor. I used honey instead of processed sugar. Always try to pick healthier options when considering sugar.

Kale is not only for smoothies but you can eat it in a salad, cook it along with veggies, or even put it in soup. I have put kale in my Chili and even in my Lentil soup!

Look out for my next post on the negative effects of processed sugars!
